What We Do
In the past year, the Global Mission Office facilitated direct support from parishes and schools within the Archdiocese of Chicago for over 350 distinct mission causes in more than 40 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Below is an overview of the programs and services we provide.
Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP): Each summer parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago participate in the baptismal call to evangelize in our world by welcoming missionary speakers through the Missionary Cooperation Plan. (Link)
World Mission Sunday: World Mission Sunday is a global celebration, which calls the faithful of the Archdiocese of Chicago to participate together in God’s mission to the entire world. (Link)
Support for Parish and School Partnerships: The Global Mission Office provides resources to parishes and schools that have relationships with international mission communities and causes. (Link)
Mission Education for Children: The Global Mission Office provides formational resources through the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), a world-wide organization that connects Catholic youth globally in faith and love. (Link)
Donations and Contributions: The Global Mission Office receives and distributes donations that support the needs of missionaries, including mass intentions, contributions for liturgical supplies, and donated vestments. (Link)
Project Support: The Global Mission Office responds to requests from international mission dioceses, congregations, and lay organizations to support sustainable projects that meet the social and spiritual needs of the people they serve. (Link)
