Care for Creation Ministry Presents:
“The Letter” Film Event at a location near you
Receive the beautiful, compelling message of “The Letter” by experiencing the recently released film with an audience across the Archdiocese of Chicago. Building on the encyclical Laudato Si’, “The Letter” shares the real stories of people from around the world who come together on a transformative journey. As the stories unfold, be inspired by how spiritual values unite us in the face of a planetary emergency.
Host location leads will find helpful tips and suggestions here for a successful showing of "The Letter."
Quick Reminders:
- Reach out to an Archdiocese of Chicago Care for Creation/LSAP Vicariate Facilitator at [email protected]
- Use the Event Agenda Guide (See Link Below)
- Begin to share promotional materials as soon as possible and often! For example, parish bulletins/news may need several weeks of lead time.
- Encourage and promote participant registration frequently. Include as an announcement at Mass, personally invite others, reach out to ministry and staff leads, share at local community event postings, share with high school aged and young adults, and use social media.
- Plan for a two hour event including viewing the film, a reflection following, and encouraging next steps towards Creation Care and the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
- Invite someone to help document and take photos at your event to help inspire awareness and action. Please use the AOC Photo/Video Release Form below for anyone in a photo.
- Light refreshments are encouraged as guests arrive. Make it simple and sustainable.
- Important - please be aware of any parish protocols for serving food. Our theme is caring for creation, so avoid paper/plastic if possible. Plastic contradicts our message.
- Ask participants you know to help bring something simple.
- Set the stage with a warm welcome. Positive dialogue is an essential element to and following the film. Encourage reflection on the film and action toward getting involved in Creation Care and the Laudato Si’ Action Platform especially through the support of the Archdiocese of Chicago Care for Creation Ministry. See the Event Agenda Guide below for suggestions.
- As the date nears, your Archdiocese of Chicago LSAP Vicariate Facilitator will be reaching out to you often. Lean on them for a successful gathering and share in the experience in receiving “The Letter”, Laudato Si’.
