The National Eucharistic Revival officially began on Corpus Christi Sunday, June 19, 2022. The Revival is a three-year initiative sponsored by the USCCB to form, heal, convert and unite the People of God through a renewed encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist and then to send them out to a hurting and hungry world. The Revival’s focus on formation and missionary discipleship begins at the grassroots level in individual parishes and dioceses along with other Catholic institutions:

  • Currently we are in Year Two: the Year of Parish Revival. At the same time the Archdiocese of Chicago is engaged in its own process of renewal, as we strive to better understand and enter more deeply into the Paschal Mystery through the celebration of the Mass, and how we encounter the living Christ in the Eucharist. ‍
  • Year Three will be the Year of the National Eucharistic Congress and Missionary Sending and commences with a National Eucharistic Congress set to take place July 17-21, 2024, in Indianapolis.

Revival, Renewal and the Archdiocese

As we in the Archdiocese of Chicago continue on our journey of spiritual renewal, the Eucharistic Revival process is an opportunity to reflect upon and draw closer to the Eucharistic celebration as the source and summit of our lives and the missionary discipleship to which we are called. Throughout the Year of Parish Revival and the Year of Missionary Sending, the Archdiocese of Chicago will share resources and host opportunities for all the faithful to encounter the Risen Lord together in the celebration of the Eucharist and deepen our response to that encounter through prayer, fellowship and faith formation grounded in witness, reflection and dialogue.

Offerings will include:

  • Parish Resources
    • Remain in Me: A Parish Resource for Eucharistic Revival
The archdiocesan Office of Lifelong Formation and Office of Divine Worship are pleased to offer this five-part series of interactive reflections on the call to encounter and respond to Christ’s abiding presence in the Eucharist. Based on Cardinal Cupich’s Take, Bless, Break, Share: A Strategy for Eucharistic Revival, this will be a great resource for parish-wide and small group sharing.

Reflections and Resources from Cardinal Cupich

In Take, Bless, Break, Share: A Strategy for a Eucharistic Revival, Cardinal Blase J. Cupich proposes five strategies to help Catholics deepen this encounter through a profound experience of the Eucharist—one that leads to living rich, faith-filled lives. Perfect for parish-wide and small group sharing, each session features thoughtful questions for reflection and conversation, and encourages Catholics to ponder and pray about their participation in Christ’s abundant gift of the Eucharist and its connection to daily life in a complex world. You can purchase a copy of this book online here. Please visit our Parish Resource page for information on Remain in Me, our upcoming series of interactive spiritual reflections on the themes outlined by the Cardinal.
