High School Respect Life Clubs
On May 23rd, our own Respect Life team, represented by Ray Pingoy and Kevin O’Gorman, visited Mother McAuley High School to present Sophia Rowan and Erin Connolly with the inaugural Gospel of Life Award! This award honors high school students in the Archdiocese of Chicago who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the pro-life mission of the Catholic Church. Recipients have been actively involved in parish or school Respect Life programs, and have gone above and beyond in promoting the dignity and sanctity of all human life, from conception to natural death.
Sophia and Erin were nominated by Deacon Robert Cislo, who highlighted their leadership in the Respect Life Club at Mother McAuley and their respectful attitude towards others. As co-presidents, they led club meetings and introduced discussions on “life issues” and how to build a culture of Life. In addition, their work extended into the community and both participated in the March for Life, Chicago marches and volunteer at the Woman’s Center.
Sophia graduated from Mother McAuley this Spring and will be attending the Air Force Academy. Erin is returning to Mother McAuley for her senior year and will continue in her work as president for the club.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Sophia and Erin for their dedication to spreading the Gospel of Life! We also thank Deacon Cislo for his support and recognition of these exceptional young women. We keep Sophia and Erin in our prayers and ask for God’s blessing as they continue their journey!
