When we encounter Jesus, our natural inclination is to want to know more about him and his Church. And the more we get to know Jesus Christ, the more willing we are to open our hearts to his transforming love. We are all called to a life-long journey of formation, to deepen our faith, to learn more, and to grow as witnesses and become Missionary Disciples.
We use the word formation to describe the way in which we learn more about Christ and the Church both intellectually and spiritually. You are encouraged to find ways to grow in your faith. Many parishes offer seasonal small group resources, Bible studies, book groups, days of reflection and other ways to continue to grow. If your parish does not offer what you are looking for, explore other parishes nearby or our many Catholic organizations in the Archdiocese for other formation opportunities.
As a way to directly support adults in their faith formation, the Faith Hub Chicago has developed online formation courses in which you can participate – Grounded in Faith, Rooted in the Church, Go Forth (for small group leader training). As a tool of the Building the New Reality, the Faith Hub will continue to offer a variety of ongoing formation opportunities for adults.
