CRS Week of Action: April 6-12

ACT TOGETHER IN APRIL
Your voice has greater impact when we work together! As we approach Holy Week and our meditations on Christ’s death, CRS is calling on partners to act together to draw attention to the tragedy occurring around the world. CRS has designated April 6-12 as a week of action to support our global family, ending with the CRS National Call on April 12. Mobilize your network to join advocates across the United States and amplify our shared advocacy.

PLAN YOUR ACTIONS!
Be creative as you consider how you can invite your community to join you in advocacy. Some ideas for the week of action are listed below to inspire your planning, but you know your community best!

  • Organize a Call Congress or Email Congress Day. Invite your network to call or email their members of Congress on a single day.
  • Connect to a Lenten event. Add a call to action to an existing event in your parish or community.
  • Lead with faith. Highlight the current crisis during the Prayers of the Faithful at Mass on April 6. Organize an offering of letters to be hand-delivered to a local congressional office. Plan a tabling event after mass.
  • Attend an event. Check your members’ websites for local events. Invite community members to join you in attending and talk with your member or their staff about international assistance.
  • Share online. Ask your networks to share the link to the CRS action alert on social media on a specific day. Encourage each person to share a story of why they support the mission of CRS and invite others to act.
  • Anything else that organizes a swell of messages to Congress.

Who We Are

Catholic Relief Services was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to serve World War II survivors in Europe. Since then, CRS has expanded in size to reach more than 100 million people in 101 countries on five continents. As the official international Catholic relief and development agency of the USCCB, the mission of CRS is to assist impoverished and disadvantaged people overseas, working in the spirit of Catholic social teaching to promote the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the human person.

In partnering with Catholic Relief Services, the people of the Archdiocese of Chicago live their faith in solidarity with their brothers and sisters around the world. We also promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies.

As part of the universal mission of the Catholic Church, the Catholic Relief Services network within the Archdiocese of Chicago works with local, national and international Catholic institutions and structures, and other organizations, to assist people based on need — not creed, race or nationality.
