The Escuela de Formación en Pastoral Juvenil Hispana, ESFOR, is a yearlong formation program that accompanies Latino young adults of the Archdiocese of Chicago in their diverse realities. The purpose of ESFOR is to train Latino young adult leaders in ministry and help them discover and develop their own Christian vocational response, and to express it freely and consciously for the good of our Church and society.

Pastoral Juvenil Hispana

In Latino cultures, “jóvenes” are young people ages approximately 16-30 and ministry with them is called “pastoral juvenil.”

The USCCB recognizes these categories and understands the vastness of this age demographic. What unites them all is their youthful enthusiasm and energy, but also the challenges of transition and discovery. Youth and Young Adult and Pastoral Juvenil ministries celebrate the excitement and optimistic outlook of younger generations and offers pastoral care for those in transition.

Theology on Tap

The concept of Theology on Tap began in St. James Parish in Arlington Heights, IL, with a conversation in 1981 between Fr. Jack Wall and then college student Tim Leeming. Like so many others in their 20s and 30s.

Theology on Tap has spread to more than 180 parishes and dioceses and at least six other countries, including Canada, Italy, Taiwan, the Philippines, Ireland, Australia and Hong Kong. In Chicago, the Young Adult Ministry Office is proud to continue the tradition of Theology on Tap for the 35th summer at 25 sites throughout the Archdiocese. With a wonderful group of speakers and presenters covering dozens of topics, we are excited for a busy summer and to celebrate our youth and our faith with young adults across the Chicagoland area.
