The religious curriculum of the Archdiocese of Chicago incorporates the mission of the Church to evangelize and to catechize. Through the curriculum goals, students are invited to learn about the life of faith as expressed in the Living Tradition of the Church and Sacred Scripture. Throughout the catechetical process, students are called to live their lives fully in Christ by participating in the life of the Church and its mission to the world.
The curriculum is available for eleven different levels of learning, including an introductory course and then additional modules for grades Pre-K through 8th.
The curriculum documents give a great overview summary of what each grade level needs to accomplish.
Curriculum for Each Grade Level and Introduction
We have divided the Elementary Catechetical Curriculum into 12 parts. Each piece of the curriculum is in PDF form and can be downloaded by clicking on the links below. Please feel free to use these documents in any capacity. It is imperative that catechists review the document that corresponds with the grade level they teach.
