Human Dignity and Solidarity

Immigration Weekend

On the weekend of September 8–9, communities across the Archdiocese of Chicago will reflect on immigration and the plight of immigrants and refugees arriving in our nation.

Government officials have the responsibility to develop sound and humane policies that reflect the values of our great nation. We must remember that beyond these immigration policies there are people – immigrants and refugees just like us who deserve our attention, concern, and care. They are men, women, and children, many of whom are desperately fleeing the violence of their home countries.

What does this mean? What does our faith call us to do? Practically speaking, what can we do? These are the questions we will reflect upon as we listen to the word of God and pray for enlightenment.

We encourage all parishes to utilize the resources below during the weekend of September 8-9.
