Theology on Tap

2021 Series

Welcome back to Theology on Tap season! Last year’s virtual series was so popular that we are doing another virtual series this year. The theme of the 2021 Theology on Tap series is St. Joseph, which is inspired by the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Blessed Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. It is also in honor of the Year of St. Joseph. Throughout this series, we will explore St. Joseph’s patronage and how the city of Chicago is living by his example today.

Kickoff: The Universal Church and Accompaniment
July 1, 2021
7 p.m.

Our Theology on Tap Kickoff event will feature Fr. Guillermo (Memo) Campuzano, the Vice President for Mission and Ministry at DePaul University here in Chicago. Inspired by St. Joseph, the Patron Saint of the Universal Church, Fr. Memo will talk about the Universal Church and accompaniment. He will discuss what it means when we say that the church is universal, how the Church is present around the world and how we are called to be active members of the Universal Church who accompany people no matter the situation.

Fr. Memo has a vast experience with the Vincentian Family advocating for and developing systemic change programs for people left behind in our society. At the United Nations, Fr. Memo directed global advocacy on behalf of the Vincentian mission. He was the creator and coordinator for the Vincentian International Network for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. He also served as chair of the United Nations’ Working Group to End Homelessness.
